- Interns typically serve for 3-4 months, which may be renewed at the discretion of the Supervisor typically for interns working on a project in process.

Intern Experiences
“I walked into Cunningham Township as a volunteer passionate about serving my community but unaware about where to engage in these efforts and completely bewildered about my career path. I was welcomed in on critical community projects and immediately felt like a part of the team. The staff were knowledgeable mentors and teachers; they continuously inspired me by their dedication to providing wholistic care for our community members and encouraged me to find my tenacity and persistence in addressing the needs of my neighbors. As I climbed from volunteer, to intern, to a staff member, Cunningham Township instilled in me the value of dignity and respect for all and provided a foundation for my understanding of how social services should function in our modern world. As I embark on my new journey as a housing counselor in Detroit, I will be forever grateful that I found my purpose at Cunningham Township.”
