ATTENTION: SNAP WORK REQUIREMENTS ARE CHANGING

At the end of April, 2026, for those who do not meet the work requirements, SNAP will be suspended. This suspension of their SNAP benefits will continue until proof that work requirements are being met and/or proof that the household is exempt has been submitted to IDHS.

Many people between the ages of 18 and 64 will be required to work or volunteer a minimum of 20 hours/week to keep SNAP.

You are exempt from the new requirements if you are:

  • Under 18 years old
  • Over 65 years old
  • Living in a SNAP household with a child under 14 years old
  • Receiving SSI or SSDI benefits
  • Subject to (and compliant with) TANF work requirements
  • Receiving unemployment benefits

Others may be exempt as well!

You can check your SNAP status through the following links and contacts:

If you are a current Cunningham Township participant receiving case management or other services, please talk to your case manager or other contact about any questions or concerns you may have with your SNAP benefits.

Other LINK/SNAP resources:

You can double the value of your LINK and/or P-EBT benefit when you shop at the Indoor Market in Urbana or the Common Ground Co-op.

Common Ground Co-op at Lincoln Square Mall:

  • For every $1 spent using LINK you get a $1 voucher to spend on any LINK eligible items.
  • For example if you spend $20 on LINK eligible items using your link card, you will get $20 in vouchers to spend on other LINK eligible items.

“[Food delivery] has been such a blessing to me and my granddaughter. My granddaughter loves the oatmeal, she eats it every day for breakfast. The toilet paper too has been a tremendous help. We appreciate it so much.”
