Rental Assistance

If you owe back rent:

You may qualify for Cunningham Township’s Rental Assistance Program if you:

  1. Live in Cunningham Township (most of the City of Urbana)
  2. Have income
  3. AND have not already received rental assistance from Cunningham Township, City or Champaign Township or RPC in the past 2 years.

 

Required documents to submit with your application for rent assistance: 

  1. Completed application
  2. Photo IDs for all adult members of the household
  3. A signed current lease for your current unit or an unsigned lease offer for your intended unit.
  4. Proof of Income (paystubs, award letters, etc) for the past 30 days, including name, for all adult members of the household.
  5. A rental ledger displaying your name, address, and all payments/charges to your account since you last had a $0 balance.

Important information for online applications:

In order to submit a complete application for rental assistance you must click the link in the 2nd page of the google form and fill out the rest of the application via dropbox sign.

Once you have filled out all the required fields in this application, click the button that says “Continue” in the top right corner, shown in the picture below:

After clicking continue, you will then need to click “I agree” at the top right of the screen, in a similar location to where the “Continue” button was. This button is shown in the picture below:

Your application is only submitted when you see the screen pictured below and receive an email titled “You just signed RA Application” at the email you entered to receive your link to the dropbox sign application:

Paper applications can be found posted outside the front door of our office at 205 W Green Street in Urbana.

Completed paper applications and supporting documents can be submitted to the mail slot in our office front door. Additional documents may also be submitted online here (use this form only if you have already submitted a Rental Assistance application).

Applications will not be considered complete unless all required documents are submitted. Incomplete applications will be held for one week for pickup then discarded.
