Cunningham Township Supervisor’s Office is a government office providing a local safety net for low income households since 1928, providing General Assistance, Rental Assistance, Utility Assistance, Food Support, Homeless Services, and referrals to services funded by Urbana residents and serving Urbana residents. It is a unit of local government that serves the City of Urbana and is funded by property taxes collected within Township boundaries.
Cunningham Township is compromised by the Supervisor’s Office and the Assessor’s Office. The Supervisor’s Office is the administrative office of the Township and responsible for issuing General Assistance welfare benefits to eligible persons living within the Township. The Assessor’s Office is responsible for determining the fair market value of taxable property within Cunningham Township so that the tax burden is distributed equitably.
